The Community Porch has always been more than a porch. Here is what we run for the people of Hoosick Falls.
Every fall, the Community Porch provides a brand new backpack to every child who needs one, with their complete school supply list inside. Not a partial list. Not used supplies. A full kit, ready to go. We start gathering at the end of June so every backpack is ready before the first day of school in September.
Every year, in partnership with the Hoosick Falls Police Department and local businesses, the Community Porch provides toys for children in the community. In 2025, the program expanded to include new coats and clothing as well.
Every spring, each child in the community receives an age-appropriate basket filled with candy and spring toys.
Our newest program, funded by a community grant and kicked off with a generous donation of fresh vegetables and herbs from The Hoosick Community Garden. We bring garden beds, soil, and rooted herbs, vegetables, and fruits directly to community members who cannot get to the garden. Grow what you have. Share what you have extra of.
Every year for Mother's Day, the Community Porch gives away 100 plants to the community. A small thank you to the moms and the neighbors who hold this town together.
